Live 8K cinema-quality streaming, live cinematic production, virtual production, VFX, and RAW R3D capture―all are now possible using the dedicated RED Connect Module from RED DIGITAL CINEMA for V-RAPTOR/XL cameras. Not only does the RED Connect Module enable simultaneous streaming and recording, but it does so at rates up to 8K 120 fps or 4K 240 fps. Multicamera users will appreciate the RED Connect Module’s ability to sync numerous cameras using genlock and timecode via PTP (SMPTE ST 2059-2) and a single-mode LC connection at rates up to 10 Gb/s.

The RED Connect Module comes in two versions, one for V-RAPTOR cameras and another for V-RAPTOR XL models. The module itself attaches securely on your camera’s V-mount interface and connects to the CFexpress media slot to create a high-speed data connection.

The required RED Connect license is currently available in 1-year or perpetual options with a 1-month version to be available later. This new fiber-based module streams RAW R3D files from your V-RAPTOR/XL camera to a CCU (camera control unit) in real time over IP, providing a turnkey option for RED Connect users.

For an incredibly powerful Red Connect workflow, turn to the new Z8 Fury G5 Workstation from B&H partner HP. Compatible with Windows and Linux, the Z8 Fury G5 employs a single-socket CPU with up to 56 CPU cores and 4 GPUs to deliver extreme performance. This workstation also boasts up to 2TB of DDR5 RAM for smooth performance and storage of up to 120TB. Expansion options include 8 PCIe slots (up to Gen 5) and 4 front-panel NVMe bays.

The HP Z8 Fury G5 workstation is well equipped to handle the data streams from the V-RAPTOR/XL, decompressing and debayering the R3D data with minimal latency. It can also process up to 8K60p streams for extended periods of time. The basic RED Connect workflow consists of the V-RAPTOR/XL camera with the attached RED Connect module connected via a Cat 6 cable to the Fury G5 (with the RED Connect app), which outputs up to 8K60p via a quad SDI interface.
The RED Connect Module will connect to the HP Z8 fury and use the power of a new GPU, the NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada Graphics Card, to convert R3D data into an 8K live signal. Key to the Connect Module workflow, the RTX 6000 Ada boasts a generous 48GB of VRAM, speedy third-generation RT Cores, and a fast PCI Express Gen 4 interface with twice the bandwidth of a PCIe Gen 3.
This compact module is powered by a DC input port and has a contoured, textured form that provides a secure grip, and a built-in clamp to help prevent any accidental cable disconnects.
So, if you’re ready to leave low-res traditional live video in the dust and experience immersive 8K video with a supercharged workflow, the RED Connect Module is for you. We look forward to your questions and comments in the provided section, below.
