Miggo has announced eight new products to complement its increasingly popular product lines. The first groups of products would be four new Splat-series tripods. With a unique organic look, they are made from bendable non-slip materials, making the miggo Splat tripods ideal for travel. They take up little in the way of room and can be rested, attached to, or wrapped around all kinds of surfaces, flat and otherwise.

The tripod: a three-legged camera support. Why is the tripod market so flooded with options when they all look pretty much the same and are designed to do the same thing? Isn’t one tripod as good as any other? Why are some so expensive? Why are others comparatively inexpensive? Do some hold cameras more steadily than others? And, why in the world is that one pink?
In this article, we will be emphasizing the use of a tripod for photography.
Thirty-something years ago, I needed a sturdy camera support that would enable me to take a series of photographs from ground level. After a bit of shopping around, I purchased a Leica Tabletop Tripod and a Leica Ball Head. Since that time my “Leica-pod” has traveled the world with me on hundreds of assignments and, a few scuffs and
Tripods are usually the first things that come to mind when we think “camera support.” The truth is there are numerous scenarios in which traditional tripods don’t cut the mustard. The following is a list of more than 20 camera supports designed to support cameras in situations where traditional tripods fall short.

With so much gear to choose from, it’s not easy for the non-photographer or beginning photographer to know where to start. And as hard as it is for the non-photographer, it’s even harder for the person buying them a holiday gift. So, to make this holiday chore more fun, we’ve compiled 10 photographic items that should be as joyful to give as to receive.

Why are we left with a photographic reality like that which makes the tastiest food bad for you?
Tripods come in all shapes, weights, heights, and styles. If you
As a photographer, there are few genres of photography in which I haven’t dabbled. I’ve shot portraiture, products, and sports, and I even took a camera out at a wedding once. But if you ask what my favorite type of photography is, it is this: maritime industrial subjects at night. With a bit of luck, I now have access to a working shipyard seven minutes (by bike) from my apartment in Brooklyn!
Fully featured and ranging in weight from 2.5 to 4.6 pounds, the new Oben, 5-section, aluminum and carbon fiber folding tripods with matching ball heads are very appealing to photographers who demand the most from their gear. Designed for different load capacities, the tripods all have retractable spiked feet; a foam cover on one leg; reversible, low-angle center columns; 22.5°-24°, 50°, or 80° leg locking angles, integrated monopods,
As complementary as peanut butter is to jelly, the camera and tripod are an age-old pairing that still manages to maintain relevance and unmatched functionality in a world dominated by image stabilization and Photoshop tricks. While the form and function of a tripod is far simpler to understand than the scrolling menus of today’s feature-packed DSLRs, it can still be a chore to choose the right setup for your needs from among a sea of manufacturers and
A tripod is a solid, stable accessory in the photography world, one that very rarely sees significant change, but the new line of Splat flexible tripods from miggo have redefined the tripod in an innovative way. The Splat is more like a flexible support designed to take a number of shapes in order to suit the needs of the photographer and the situation. Need to wrap it around a tree? Done. How about bicycle handlebars? Done. Your wrist? Done. The Splat’s one-piece bendable body allows
Whether you hate ’em or love ’em, there is no getting around ’em—literally. I have been bonked on the head by a selfie stick on the busy streets of New York, while skiing, and even in the confines of a major arena during a basketball game. Let’s add to their numbers on the street with a convenient buying guide to the best and the rest.
First, selfie sticks are not all that new—they have been around in some form since the 1990s and are basically an
