Action Cameras & Accessories

My favorite camera I never bought was the original Sony RX0. Weird, I know, to start off a review of its next generation this way, but I just want to emphasize how appealing the design of the RX0 is to certain individuals. Deciding not to purchase it came down to a single, fatal flaw: no internal 4K. That’s why, when Sony dropped the RX0 II, I was jumping up and down (figuratively, for the most part) in celebration. Not only was

Nearly blurring the lines perfectly between tough point-and-shoot and ultra-portable action cam is the just-announced Sony RX0 II. If Sony only did one thing with the second generation of this waterproof camera, and that one thing was enabling internal 4K, I would’ve been happy. That is why I am extremely pleased to report that Sony did that and much, much more. Another significant edit made in this version is that the 1.5" 230k

Billed as an IR night vision action camera, the Aurora IR Night Vision Camera, by SiOnyx, has a lot of expectations to live up to. When it arrived at my desk, I was cautiously optimistic. After playing with it for a little while, I was impressed, though I question whether I’d call it an action camera. SiOnyx Aurora IR

More than once, GoPro has, in past times, released two versions of a HERO model, such as the HERO4 Black and HERO4 Silver. This time, for release number 7, GoPro has announced three versions: the HERO7 Black, Silver, and White. As in previous times, they're not only different in color but also in feature sets. Just the idea of a HERO7 is exciting already, but to see three versions is much more so. The HERO7 Black is GoPro's cream of the crop and, perhaps, the most advanced action

To finish off Adventure Week (and celebrating the fact that we came back mostly intact) we decided to enjoy a day at the beach! Specifically, we went to Coney Island, where New Yorkers can lay out and relax in the sun and on the sand after taking a subway ride from nearly anywhere in the city. Today's adventure is to go swimming with real live sharks in their natural habitat—the ocean! Heading out to Montauk, New York, the location that inspired the film Jaws, we were hoping to see plenty of sharks in their own surf, though from the safety of a cage, as we were guided by an experienced captain out into the open waters. The GoPro Fusion was probably the first 360-degree camera in which I was legitimately interested. It wasn’t the first of its kind, but the Fusion’s 5.2K video resolution, combined with the build quality and ease-of-use for which GoPro is known, intrigued me enough to buy one. While the prospect of 360 video is somewhat intriguing, what attracted me more than that was the Fusion’s ability to capture everything around me, enabling me to pan and tilt a
