Nikon Releases New COOLPIX Digital Camera and NIKKOR Lens
Fans of the COOLPIX P1000 will be happy to know that their beloved point-and-shoot is back with a refreshed interface. Introducing the COOLPIX P1100 Digital Camera, a compact, easy-to-use camera with a 125x optical zoom for long distance shooting. A 16MP backside illuminated CMOS sensor easily captures up to UHD 4K videos and high-quality photos in RAW and JPEG codecs.
A built-in NIKKOR lens features a 35mm equivalent focal length of 24-3000mm when fully extended. Zoom in even further with the 250X Dynamic Fine Zoom to a focal length equivalent of 6000mm. Even when you’re getting these hyper close-ups, Dual Detect Optical VR image stabilization keeps everything sharp and steady. Selectable scene modes toggle slow-motion, time-lapse, and Super lapse movies. There’s even a new bird-watching mode which optimizes your settings to capture your favorite fauna in their element.
Nikon’s SnapBridge shares photos directly from your camera to your mobile device via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. A USB-C input allows you to supply power to the camera via power bank for longer shoot times.
Nikon has also given us a new NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.2 S Lens which is sure to please documentary storytellers and photographers. It rounds out the NIKKOR f/1.2 prime lens offerings, completing a wide-to-telephoto range of focal lengths from 35 to 50 to 85mm. Its f/1.2 maximum aperture ensures the lens can perform well in low-light environments.
The prime lens also features minimal focus breathing and quiet focusing operation for video capture. Driving AF performance provides dual STM motors for increased accuracy, focusing on subjects as close as 13.4”. Internally, the lens features Meso Amorphous, Nano Crystal, and ARNEO coatings for minimal ghosting and lens flare. Three ED lenses and one aspherical ED lens reduce spherical aberrations and distortions. An 11-blade diaphragm creates a smooth bokeh characteristic of the series.
Olympus Introduces New Mirrorless Camera and Revamps M.Zuiko Lenses
Olympus brings a new addition to their OM-System camera lineup with the OM-3 Mirrorless Camera. The camera features a 20MP Stacked BSI Live MOS mirrorless system for high-quality footage. It comes with a standard, wide-angle 24-45mm zoom to capture virtually anything, from portraits to landscapes. A f/4 constant maximum aperture ensures versatile light performance.
Additional features include live ND filters, focus stacking, and a high-resolution shot mode. All these characteristics make the camera set ideal for both a first-time shooter and a seasoned professional seeking a compact mirrorless for their kit.
On top of the OM-3, Olympus has refreshed several of their M.Zuiko lenses, bringing them into the OM-System fold. All of these lenses feature a Micro Four Thirds mount but vary in focal length. The 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS II Lens has a 200-800mm full-frame equivalent and gives you incredible reach. Improved optical image stabilization gives you 4.5 stops at the extremes of its zoom range and five-axis sync IS system gives 7.0 stops of shutter speed compensation.

The other two lens releases are 17mm and 25mm models. Both have a f/1.8 to f/22 aperture range and are IPX1-rated with a specialized ZERO coating for ghosting and flaring reduction. Movie & Still Compatible autofocus systems are integrated for versatile use in both video and photo applications. The 17mm prime has one DSA element and two aspherical elements for less distortion and is a 34mm equivalent on full-frame cameras. The 25mm lens has two aspherical elements and is a 50mm equivalent on full-frame cameras.
