When it comes to computer peripherals, few brands offer a catalog of accessories as comprehensive as Logitech. The company recently expanded that catalog with the release of the MX Anywhere 3S and MX Keys S, which are updated and optimized versions of its non-"S" counterparts.
On May 30th, 2024, Logitech announced Mac-specific versions of the MX Anywhere 3S, MX Keys S, and Wave Keys. Their features are similar to the Windows-optimized versions but have been updated with macOS and iPadOS-specific functions, shortcuts, app-specific profiles, and modifier keys.
As its name suggests, the MX Anywhere 3S is Logitech's latest travel-sized mouse. Of course, that means its size is the most important feature, and the Anywhere 3S measures up at a respectably small 3.96" by 2.56" and only weighs 3.5 oz. This new S variant features an 8K DPI sensor and quiet-clicking buttons, which are incremental but still nice quality-of-life updates. The "S" version also lacks a dongle, which is a welcome change since the previous version didn't have anywhere to store one.
It features five buttons in total, with two of them being customizable side buttons, and the same MagSpeed scroll wheel from its more full-featured counterpart, the MX Master 3S. This mouse is essentially a mini Master 3S (which many of us love using in our setups) with more or less the same internals and features as Logitech's Darkfield sensor, which works on almost any surface, including glass. According to Logitech, the MX Anywhere 3S's battery can last up to 70 days.
Logitech's other new product, the MX Keys S, is an updated version of its premium keyboard line. The MX Keys was already a fantastic keyboard and this "S" version adds a few features and even lowers the price a bit. The physical form remains largely unchanged from its predecessor, taking its design cues from Apple's Magic Keyboard in everything from its aluminum unibody to its shallow keys.
The biggest addition here is improved Smart Illumination backlighting that adapts to the lighting in your room and turns on when your hands are in proximity. Logitech also improved the software with its proprietary Options+ app that allows you to assign custom layouts easily for universal operations that act as macros. The battery life is rated for 10 days or up to 5 months with the backlighting off. It also has a battery-saving mode that automatically turns the lights off when the battery hits around 10 percent. It supports Bluetooth and Logitech's Bolt wireless dongle that's included in the box, and can be paired and easily switched between up to three devices. Overall, it's an excellent choice if you're in the market for a non-mechanical keyboard that combines a sleek design with functionality.
The MX Anywhere 3S comes in Black, Pale Gray, or Rose, while the MX Keys S offers you the choice of Black or Pale Gray. The MX Keys S is also available as a bundle with the Master 3S Mouse which you can read more about here. Both are available now.
