Tokina Cinema just announced the Vista-P Prime T1.5 collection, a new set of cinema lenses featuring five large-format primes with focal lengths of 18mm, 25mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 80mm. Intended to be an improvement over the coveted Vista Prime lineup, the new Vista-P Primes are designed to produce a uniquely vintage look, thanks to their low contrast and exceptionally stylistic bokeh.
The prominent spherical distortion present in the Vista-P Prime series is created by a design that “adds greater spacing between air-to-glass surfaces” in the lens, according to Tokina Cinema, and leads to a beautiful “swirly Petzval-type effect.”
Each of these lenses is constructed with an-all metal housing alongside cinema-styled gearing. Regardless of focal length, each lens boasts the following identical physical specifications:
-
Gear position
-
Focus throw of 300°
-
114mm front diameter
-
112mm front filter thread
-
9-blade iris
These identical parameters will further enhance user workflow when jumping from one lens to another, since focus motors will not have to be readjusted to compensate for a different focal length, and filters can be used interchangeably.
Available mounting options will range from PL, EF, MFT, E, and LPL.
