NAB is underway and Atomos is one of the many brands giving us a slew of new products to debrief about. This year, they’re bringing us the StudioSonic Headphones, the TX-RX 4K/HD Video Transmission System, and the A-Eye PTZ Camera series. All these products are designed to improve your professional workflows from the studio to the classroom.
StudioSonic Headphones
The StudioSonic Headphones are professional-grade over-ear devices for both video and audio creators. They feature large 50mm drivers and a 10 Hz to 40 kHz frequency response. A detachable 6.6’ coiled cable and dual 3.5mm and 6.3mm jack ports provide compatibility with a wide variety of devices.
4K/HD Wireless Video Transmission System
After years of providing us with high-quality monitoring tools, Atomos is finally stepping into the video transmission space with the TX-RX 4K/HD Wireless Video Monitoring Transmitter & Receiver Set. The system consists of transmitter and receiver units which deliver low-latency 1080p60 HD-SDI and 4K30 HDMI video up to 985’ via 5 GHz Wi-Fi signal. Seamlessly monitor your video signals on set, whether that be camera-to-monitor or monitor-to-monitor connections.
The transmitter unit features HDMI and SDI input ports with an HDMI loop output, while the receiver features dual HDMI outputs and one SDI output port. A single transmitter can communicate with up to four receivers and can also transmit signals to iOS or Android mobile devices. The units are powered via NP-F series battery, USB-C, or DC inputs for options when on set or in the field. Purchase the system as a transmitter and receiver set or as separate units to customize your wireless configuration to suit your production needs.
A-Eye PTZ Cameras
Atomos is also expanding its product range into the PTZ space with its new A-Eye PTZ series. AI-enhanced capabilities provide the cameras with intelligent tracking for a wide variety of content applications. Included in the lineup are three PTZ camera units and a controller for multi-camera operation.
The A-Eye 4K-20X and 4K-12X units can record up to UHD 4K60 video resolutions with their respective 1/1.8” and 1/2.5” CMOS sensors. Both feature NDI|HX3 licenses as well as HDMI, 3G-SDI, USB, and IP outputs. They also support recording to a hard drive from the USB port. Focus in on subjects in the classroom or office with the 4K-12X unit’s 12x optical zoom and 16x digital zoom. The 4K-20X unit goes even further with a 20x optical zoom and 16x digital zoom for large venue applications and stage productions.
An additional HD-20X unit provides the same connectivity and AI tracking at a maximum resolution of HD 2K60. It retains the same 20x optical and 16x digital zoom as the 4K version but does not support recording via the USB port. It is best suited for schools, houses of worship, and other venues looking to get some bang for their buck.
Control over all the cameras can be achieved via UVC, RS-485, and IP VISCA protocols. When using multiple camera units in a single ecosystem, the A-Eye Controller works as a dedicated remote hub for streamlined communication. The controller features a 5” LCD screen for real-time monitoring, a variable-speed 4D joystick, and customizable buttons and shortcuts for intuitive operation.
