There are many ways you could sell DJI’s Mavic Mini to someone. It’s an incredibly small drone. It’s a respectable drone for film and photography. It’s easy to learn and fun to fly. It’s relatively inexpensive for the features you get. As someone who does video and photography on a regular basis for work, I saw this as a perfect starter drone.
I’ve been a fan of the Mavic series since the beginning, and I was completely sold on the Mavic 2

One of the most significant filmmaking innovations of the past decade has been the explosion of affordable drones with high-quality cameras. This has made it possible for nearly anyone to capture stunning aerial photos and video. The explosion in drones has been seen nearly everywhere, with YouTube videos sporting awesome shots from the sky and your everyday television and journalism now benefitting from a bird’s-eye view. Here are seven that we

Drones are some of the hottest small craft available today, but did you know that some are designed for underwater use? One of the latest and best is the CHASING GLADIUS MINI Underwater ROV, but let’s start with some quick background information. Many people credit the first civilian Remote Control Vehicle (ROV) to Dimitri Rebikoff, from France. In 1953, he created the first fully developed tethered ROV, the “Poodle.” He

Simply put, the DJI Mavic 2 is the best drone in its class. From top to tail, it excels in nearly every category of performance and design. In fact, the closest the Mavic comes to a true rivalry is between its two subclasses, the Pro and the Zoom. This

I used to have a BOSS, or Backup On-Set Solution. It was to lug my 15.4" MacBook Pro, external hard drives, and all the requisite AC adapters and chargers around, in addition to my camera equipment. After getting tired of that, my on-the-road backups became using the largest SD cards I could afford and hoping I could do the whole trip or shoot without swapping anything out until I got home. Obviously, this wasn’t a real solution, and is probably the worst thing you could do in the name of keeping data safe. LaCie has designed its co-branded

Thanks to its 4K video capture, precise controls, and real-time streaming capabilities, the Power Vision PowerRay is one of the leading underwater drones available today. However, does being the standout among a burgeoning—but still relatively new and niche—category warrant a purchase? Find out in our review, below.

With the Anafi, Parrot appears to have succeeded in creating the first true rival to the DJI Mavic Air. Featuring a powerful 4K camera, similar folding style, and sophisticated autonomous tracking, it’s not hard to see the resemblance. But the Anafi is no mere challenger to the Air, nor is it any kind of DJI derivative. Like its manufacturer, Parrot, the Anafi is weird and wonderful and it’s probably the next drone you should buy. Here’s why.

For today's adventure, we're sailing the Long Island Sound. Shawn and I join two of our coworkers on a fine seafaring vessel, the S/V Morning Call, for our first-ever sailboat ride—what could go wrong?

How You Can Do It
There are plenty of options for sailing in and around New York. If you don't have direct access to a boat, you can sign up for a sailing school like Hudson River Community Sailing or sailboat tour, both of which can be found with a quick Internet search. Costs vary and tend to be on

Years from now, it's likely we'll look back at the DJI Spark and remember it as the quadcopter that signaled a fundamental change in the way we think about camera drones. Like some of consumer tech’s other landmark devices—the MP3 player, the smartphone, the tablet—Spark represents a level of performance and capability previously unheard of in a device so compact. And while it’s true that Spark isn’t the first pocket-sized

In this video, Jake from B&H takes the brand new DJI Spark for a spin, and it just happens to be his first time flying a drone. For a new pilot, the Spark features easy-to-use gesture controls, positioning systems, and tracking modes. Its extremely small size and light weight also make it one of the most portable drones around, plus it's capable of recording 1080p video.

Despite my inability to operate a Steadicam well, compounded by the motor shake I induce with every one-handed, cell-phone-type motorized gimbal I've tried so far, once built and set up, the Freefly MōVI Pro Handheld Bundle allowed me to make smooth and cinematic camera moves in a reasonable amount of time.
Although there is a mode for a single operator, ideally this motorized stabilization system works best as a two-operator

In this video, Mia McCormick reviews the latest in the Typhoon series from YUNEEC, the Q500 4K. As the name implies, this drone includes a 12MP/4K, 3D-gimbal stabilized camera. The camera also detaches, and can be mounted on the included SteadyGrip for handheld work. This flexibility makes the Q500 4K great not only for aerial footage, but shots on the ground, as well. We hope you enjoy the video, and invite you to view the wide selection of other
