Covering the needs of mirrorless photo and video creators, Manfrotto introduces seven new variations of its compact and travel-friendly Befree GT and Befree Advanced tripod series. Encompassing these new arrivals are three Befree Advanced AS tripods, two Befree GT 3-way tripods, and two Befree GT tripod legs, offering increased variety within the Befree range in terms of material and tripod head options.
Befree GT
The Befree GT tripods are designed for hybrid shooters who need features that cater to both photo and video needs. Available in either carbon fiber or aluminum, these tripod legs combine the robustness of a studio tripod with a compact design that’s suitable for travel needs—the legs alone support up to 26.5 lb, extend to about 4.9’, and fold down to approximately 17” sans head. The aluminum legs weigh 3.2 lb, while the carbon legs shed a bit of weight and come in at 2.5 lb.
The Befree GT Tripods are the first standalone legs for the Befree GT system, meaning you can pair them with the tripod head of your choice. Alternatively, both models of tripod are also available with a Befree 3-Way Head. This versatile head adjusts the top capacity to about 13.2 lb, adds another 6” to the maximum height, while only adding an inch to the folded length. This tripod head is compatible with 200PL-PRO, 501PL, and Arca-type plates and has independent knob-style adjustment, with a fluid drag system for smooth control, over both pan and tilt movements.
Both models of Befree GT Tripods showcase a robust top spider with Manfrotto’s Easy Link feature that combines a counterweight hook and an easy leg angle selector, as well as streamlined twist-style leg locks. Each model comes with its own carrying bag.
Befree Advanced
Manfrotto also introduced a trio of new tripods for its more varied Befree Advanced series, which prioritize lighter weight and compactness to serve photographers who travel more frequently. The three new tripod models revolve around the reliable and popular 494 Center Ball Head, which includes a 200PL-PRO plate, but it’s also compatible with RC2 or Arca-type plates. Each model also includes a matched carry and storage bag.
Regardless of kit configuration, each pair of Advanced AS tripod legs feature a compact, foldable, three-section leg design; all of them have a maximum extended height of about 4.9’ and fold down to around 15.75”. Each has a robust top spider that, again, features Manfrotto’s Easy Link feature with an integrated counterbalance hook and independent leg angle selector.
The sole carbon fiber model sports a twist-lock leg design and weighs 2.8 lb. For aluminum models, there is a twist-lock leg version that weighs 3.3 lb or a lever-lock leg version that weighs a bit more at 3.5 lb.
While versatility remains the core of these new tripods, all three models also share some stylistic updates, including an updated black colorway and a new typeface for the Manfrotto branding on the legs.
These new models join an existing Befree lineup and add more options to pick the model that best suits the type of work you’re creating, regardless of if its photographing wildlife or traveling to take corporate headshots.
