We’re back from Purim celebrations to bring you a week of exciting announcements! FUJIFILM released the GFX100RF, a new medium-format camera combining the X Processor 5 with the GFX 100S II 102MP image sensor. Zoom gave creators 32-bit float recording with the H5studio 4-Track Handy Recorder. Let’s get into it!

FUJIFILM Releases a New Medium-Format Camera

FUJIFILM is bringing the tried-and-true GFX 100S II sensor to medium-format shooting with the GFX100RF. Utilize the 102MP 43.8 x 32.9mm BSI CMOS sensor in tandem with the X Processor 5 to easily capture 16-bit raw files, 10-bit HEIFs, wide dynamic range, low noise with a base ISO 80, and a slew of versatile cropping options. The Intelligent Hybrid AF system makes for quick and accurate autofocus performance for shooting on the go.

The GFX100RF works in different aspect ratios or different crops while maintaining high resolution imagery. A dedicated Aspect Ratio Dial helps you choose between 4:3, 3:4, 5:4, 1:1, 3:2, 7:6, 65:24, 17:6, and 16:9 ratios. A lever beneath the shutter button accesses Digital Teleconverter settings that evoke the GF lenses in FUJIFILM’s GFX lens system from 45mm to 63mm to 80mm. The camera itself has a fixed 35mm f/4 lens, but using this tool helps crop the image and simulate different lens focal lengths.

Equivalent to 28mm on full-frame cameras, the fixed 35mm lens maintains a wide-angle FOV for a wide variety of subject matters. An internal 4-stop neutral density filter and leaf shutter design fine tune the overall appearance of light and motion in your images. Review your shots with the OLED EVF and LCD screen. Select between 20 different Film Simulation modes to evoke analog processes. The mixture of point-and-shoot simplicity and advanced creative functions make the GFX100RF a versatile camera option for aspiring photographers looking to grow their skills.

Connectivity wise, the H5studio features two locking XLR/TRS combo inputs and a 3.5mm stereo jack input for lavalier microphones. Integrated phantom power, +4 dBu line level, and plug-in power in these respective ports allow you to utilize a wide variety of audio equipment.

Ultralow-noise preamps like those found in the F-series recorders solidify the H5studio’s exceptional performance. In total, the recorder can capture six audio tracks including its four input ports plus a stereo mix. A headphone jack and 3.5mm stereo line output sends audio to your monitor and recording camera. You can even plug the recorder into your laptop or mobile device using its USB audio interface.
