If you’ve been hesitant about making the move from an external hard drive to an external solid-state drive, I get it. Not only are hard drives less expensive, but many of them have a 5 Gb/s USB interface, which means you’ll find broad compatibility without having to worry about 10 Gb/s USB or 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt™ 3 connectivity.
However, all of that just changed. Enter the WD My Passport SSD USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C Portable SSD,

This year has brought us a ton of Apple products. That’s not surprising. What is surprising is Apple announcing moving away from Intel’s x86 processors to its own custom ARM-based silicon. There is a lot to unpack here, especially for consumers who generally don’t need to know much about processors beyond, “Is this one faster than my old computer?”
I’m not even saying most people need to understand the exact nuance between Apple and Intel silicon. A lot of this is

Samsung’s T7 Portable SSD warrants many adjectives. It’s fast. It’s secure. And as the name implies, it is indeed portable. But the word I keep coming back to is elegant. That’s not a description I usually associate with storage devices, but for the T7, it fits.

Apple has constantly been releasing new ads and commercials proclaiming that “your next computer is not a computer.” Honestly, every time Apple has said that, I’ve been hoping that the spokesperson was right. I have always enjoyed using my classic 9.7" iPad Pro when I’m commuting, or even in the office, for taking notes or drafting an article. With the 2018 and 2020 generations of iPad Pros, the upcoming iPadOS 14, and the new Magic Keyboard with Trackpad, can it finally

The Microsoft Surface Go 2 is good. Or, it’s great. Determining which depends largely on the user, perhaps more so than for any tablet I’ve ever reviewed. For that reason, I tend to think of the Surface Go 2 as being particular. It’s idiosyncratic. If your needs align with the Surface Go 2’s specific feature set, it’s nothing short of magic. If they don’t, then it’s less of a revelation, but still quite good. To determine where I fell on

If you’re looking to access your external hard drive without having to deal with the archaic method of lugging it around your home and plugging it into every device with which you need to use it, there are two simple solutions on how to share your external hard drive via your Wi-Fi network.
For the first solution, you’ll need to check your router. Most modern routers have a USB port into which you can plug in a USB-compliant device to share with other devices on your network, like a printer or, in this case, an external hard drive. Once you’

It’s quite common to have an old computer die on you and not have it repaired, especially if it’s more than a few years old. But what can you do with the old carcass?
If a computer dies for any reason other than a dead hard drive, you can always convert the old drive into an external unit, and grab important files off the drive in the process. The same thing can be done if you install a larger hard drive in your computer and don’t know what to do with the old one.
The first thing you should do before investing any time and money in an

As we approach the end of what’s turning out to be one of the weirdest summers on record, that nagging back-to-school feeling seems to “hit different” in 2020, as the kids would say. For many of our kids, it means virtual classes are back, and they may be here to stay for quite some time. Some of us are returning to work in the office, but for others, it seems like work from home is going to be the new normal.
If you have been working from home and attending meetings virtually, you’re probably familiar with the ear fatigue that can develop
