At CES 2024, AMD announced new AMD Ryzen 8000G Series processors for the AM5 platform, bringing the power of a dedicated AI neural processing unit (NPU) to desktop processors for the first time with Ryzen AI. These processors will deliver the performance needed by gamers, content creators, and others.
The AMD Ryzen 8000G Series consists of four distinct processors. The most powerful of them is the Ryzen 7 8700G, which features 8 cores/16 threads, 24MB cache, a boost speed of up to 5.1 GHz, and integrated Radeon 780M graphics. Next up is the Ryzen 5 8600G, which offers six cores/12 threads, 22MB cache, and integrated Radeon 760M graphics. Both processors feature AMD Ryzen Al technology and a dedicated NPU, which allow for accelerated AI capabilities in your PC to optimize AI workloads.
While the AMD Ryzen 5 8500G and Ryzen 3 8300G processors do not have NPUs, they still feature six cores/12 threads and four cores/8 threads, respectively, and harness the graphical power of integrated Radeon 700M. These processors are ideal for smooth AAA 1080p gaming in small form factors. The entire Ryzen 8000G Series features AMD EXPO technology, enabling higher memory frequencies and advanced timings to help unlock smooth frame rates. Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO) allows one-touch overclocking, making it easier for users to get an extra CPU boost.
AMD also announced new AMD Ryzen 5000 Series desktop processors, bringing more power to legacy AM4 platforms. These processors are built on the already proven “Zen 3” architecture, delivering higher clock speeds and improved efficiency for a seamless gaming experience. The four processors are the Ryzen 7 5700X3D, Ryzen 5 5700, Ryzen 5 5600GT, and Ryzen 5 5500GT. For gamers looking for a boost in gaming performance, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D may be right for you. The processor features 8 cores/16 threads and can utilize AMD 3D V-Cache technology, which can deliver up to 100MB of on-chip memory.
Also revealed during the same presentation was the AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT graphics card. Focused on Full HD 1080p gaming and content creation, the Radeon RX 7600 XT features 32 compute units, a 128-bit memory bus, and 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM. While 1080p is where it shines, the Radeon 7600 XT can also handle 1440p with the support of advanced technologies, such as FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 and AMD HYPR-RX with Fluid Motion Frames. Aside from gamers, professionals and hobbyists can also utilize the Radeon RX 7600 XT for fast content creation performance to power professional video editing, graphic design, 3D modeling, and more.
The AMD Ryzen 8000G Series and Ryzen 5000 Series desktop processors are expected to be available starting January 31, 2024. The AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT graphics card is expected to be available starting January 24, 2024 from leading AMD OEM partners, such as Acer, ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte, PowerColor, Sapphire, and XFX.
