B&H is pleased to announce not just one, but two new wireless video monitors from Vaxis: the Atom A5 and the Storm CINE 8. Aimed at indie productions and solo content creators, the versatile 5.5" Atom A5 monitor has a built-in capability to function as either a wireless transmitter or receiver. For up to DCI 4K video and HDR support, versatile LUT choices, and an array of imaging tools, step up to the 8.9" Storm CINE 8.
Atom A5 5.5" Monitor
The new Atom A5 Wireless Rx/Tx Monitor packs a lot of function into its compact form. Aside from being a bright touchscreen monitor, this 5.5", all-in-one unit can work as either a video transmitter or a receiver, depending on your needs. The Atom A5 has an impressive transmission range of up to 492' and is compatible with existing Atom-series video components.
Display-wise, the Atom A5 features sharp 1920 x 1080 resolution, a 1200:1 contrast ratio, and 1000 cd/m² brightness for daylight viewing. Dual HDMI ports enable you to input your camera’s video signal and output it to a larger monitor for viewing by the director and other crew members. You can even use the Atom A5 to record MP4 files to a microSD (TF) card for quick, on-set playback and/or for proxy editing. Synced recording means that each Atom A5 transmitter or receiver unit in your setup will start recording simultaneously with your camera.
The redesigned CINE OS has a new menu that offers new scope, color, and exposure selections, the ability to store up to 50 LUTs, and a touch zoom function. Reduced latency of 80ms makes pulling focus easier and more accurate, as does a new focus-peaking algorithm.
At the rear of the monitor, dual built-in plates are ready to power the Atom A5 using Sony L-Series batteries, with one battery providing up to 4.5 hours of continuous use. This monitor’s detachable external antennas can be swapped out to suit different setups.
Storm CINE 8 Monitor
Turn to the Storm CINE 8 monitor with built-in wireless receiver to add tools like intelligent autofocus, anamorphic de-squeezing, multiple waveform and vectorscope settings, and a variety of color spaces like REC. 709, DCI-P3, and BT.2020 to your monitoring arsenal. The 8.9" Storm CINE 8‘s 2560 x 1600 display shines with a brightness of 1500 cd/m² for easy daylight viewing and its touchscreen menu, with a proprietary CINE OS, puts instant access to a range of settings at your fingertips. The integrated wireless video receiver operates on 5.1-5.9 GHz frequencies and has a range of up to 500'.
The Storm CINE 8’s pro interface includes both HDMI and 6G-SDI (BNC) inputs and a 6G-SDI (BNC) output for viewing on an additional monitor. Supported video resolutions include up to DCI 4K and 1080p60 with 4-channel audio.
Selectable picture-in-picture (PiP) modes, split screens, screen grabs, and side-by-side HDR/SDR and 3D LUT/flat comparisons make it easy to view your content as you’ve imagined it using the Storm CINE 8.
Choose the Storm CINE 8 with integrated Sony L-Series, V-Mount, or Gold Mount battery plates to make use of your existing battery supply.
Physical attributes of the Storm CINE 8 include 2-pin LEMO-type power input, comfortable wooden handgrips, and a sleek form with the option of using the five included antennas for optimal transmission.
Note that the Atom A5 and the Storm CINE 8 are only compatible with other components in their own series. They are not cross-compatible.
