Hollyland continues to expand their lineup of video transceiver monitors with the Pyro 5, a 5.5” touchscreen capable of dual-band transmission, 4-way monitoring, camera control, proxy recording, live streaming, and more. Also available in bundles with the Pyro S or Pyro 7, the Pyro 5 is 1500 nits and features 3G-SDI and HDMI 1.4b inputs, as well as an HDMI loop-out and an SD card slot for proxies, LUTs, and firmware updates. The transmitter and receiver functionality should work at distances up to 1312’, with low latency and smart channel selection.
The Pyro 5 can send its video feed to four receivers at once via Broadcast Mode, or two receivers and two mobile devices in the standard operating mode. The Pyro can also livestream out via RTMP and record H.264 proxies up to 40 minutes. The monitor itself is 1920 by 1080p resolution, operates in the Rec.709 color gamut, and weighs just 538g. It can be powered via the DC input or NPF-style batteries on an integrated plate. The Pyro also has standard image monitoring tools including waveforms, focus assist, and more.
Hollyland promises the Pyro 5 will have minimal latency—around 60ms in their tests—and utilize Auto Dual-Band Hopping (ADH) and Auto Frequency Hopping (AFH) on both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. Inputs and outputs are capped at 1080p60, but that’s to be expected for a monitor of this size. Many of the features and functionality of the Pyro 5 have been brought over from last year’s Pyro 7, a 7” transceiver monitor, as well as the standalone Pyro H and Pyro S transmitters and receivers. All these Pyro products are built to seamlessly integrate and form a formidable wireless video ecosystem.
