It’s been a minute since DJI released the Pocket 2 compact gimbal camera, but the wait is finally over for the new Osmo Pocket 3 gimbal camera, a major update and return to its original Osmo identity. The new pocket-sized, 3-axis Osmo Pocket 3 gimbal stabilizer camera features a new 1” CMOS sensor that can capture up to 4K120 video, a 2” rotatable LCD screen, horizontal/vertical shooting support, ActiveTrack 6.0 stabilization, full-pixel fast focus, D-Log M and 10-bit support, and stereo recording. The gimbal camera also comes in a Creator Combo kit.
Also released along with the Osmo Pocket 3 are numerous optional accessories, including a battery handle, a 1/4 Black Mist Filter, a Mini Tripod, a Magnetic ND Filter set, an Expansion Adapter, a Wide-Angle Lens, a Carry Bag, and as with every DJI product, optional DJI Care Refresh support.
Osmo Pocket 3 Gimbal Camera
The next-generation Osmo Pocket 3 adds numerous features since its predecessor was released, including an even more compact, lightweight design to fit into your pocket and an improved 1” CMOS sensor that can capture up to 4K video at 120 fps for slow-motion recording. The bright touchscreen display has been enlarged to 2” and it can rotate to accommodate horizontal or vertical shooting.
Along with its powerful 3-axis mechanical stabilization, the Osmo Pocket 3 stabilization system has been updated for even smoother capture and shake prevention. ActiveTrack 6.0 allows you to simply touch the screen to automatically follow your subject, and you can also train it in selfie mode to recognize your own face when the camera auto-rotates. When auto-focusing, the full-pixel fast focus technology allows for very quick focus based on certain points on the screen.
Other updated features include the ability to capture 10-bit color and it supports D-Log M profiles for professional grading. The three built-in microphones can capture crystal clear stereo audio for a realistic audio experience with your video. It is also compatible with the DJI Mic, Mic 2, or other external digital USB-C microphones. The Osmo Pocket 3 is remotely controllable using the DJI Mimo app via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, and you can also plug the camera into your computer to use as a webcam via its USB-C connector. It is compatible with PD fast charging via the USB-C connector, and it can operate for up to two hours on a full charge. Video is captured onto a separate microSD card with up to 512GB capacity.
The Osmo Pocket 3 base model includes a USB-C charging cable, a protective cover, a wrist strap, and a handle with 1/4”-20 thread.
Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo
The Creator Combo packs in a slew of accessories, allowing you to get started for a full day of shooting in any environment. It includes the Osmo Pocket 3 gimbal camera with everything in the base model and adds a wide-angle lens, a Mic 2 transmitter, a Mic 2 windscreen, a Mic 2 clip magnet, a battery handle, a mini tripod, and a carry bag to carry the entire kit.
Other Accessories
Other optional accessories released for the Osmo Pocket 3 include magnetic filters and expansion possibilities. The 1/4 Black Mist filter can soften skin tones, highlight flares, and soften your overall image. The Magnetic ND filter set includes ND16, ND64, and ND256 filters to reduce stops of light into the lens. The Expansion Adapter provides the ability to add even more accessories to the Pocket 3 by providing a shoe mount.
