Have you heard about the Canon VIXIA GX10? Well we here at B&H Photo have, and we are excited to announce it. The VIXIA lineup has grown over the years from a simple handheld camcorder to an HD shooting powerhouse, and the new GX10 ups its game to shoot UHD 4K. Much more than just a consumer camcorder, the GX10 incorporates features that are more often found in professional cinema cameras than what you would expect to find in a consumer camcorder. Yet even with its advances, the GX10 still hasn’t left behind the advantages of its consumer camcorder roots. Utilizing the advantages of a built-in lens, it incorporates a 15x zoom providing you with tremendous reach without the size and weight limitations of an interchangeable lens system, so you can get that wide shot, and then zoom in to get that close-up of the moment.

Sporting Dual Pixel CMOS AF, a feature found on the Canon Cinema EOS C300 Mark II, the GX10 provides a highly accurate and responsive autofocus system that allows you to keep focus where you want it on your image. The lens maintains UHD resolution throughout its zoom range, and incorporates a 9-blade iris, often prized in digital cinema lenses for contributing to natural looking bokeh. The camera features both an electronic viewfinder and a 3.5” flip-out touch panel LCD. To handle processing of your 4K images, the GX10 harnesses the power of dual DIGIC DV6 image processors. This enables slow and fast motion recording as well as being able to output high quality footage. You can record your UHD 4K footage to dual SD card slots without dropping frames, and if you need to record in HD instead, the camera allows that as well. The built-in HDMI 2.0 port supports outputting 4K UHD video at 60p, so you can watch your footage on a monitor that supports 3820 x 2160 at 60p straight from the camera.
The VIXIA GX10 is a camera with roots in the consumer world, but that aspires towards the professional, and is an exciting option to consider.
