Blackmagic Design is known for launching exciting products and updates at their yearly NAB presentation, and 2025 is no different. This year the big-ticket items are a new PYXIS 12K cinema camera, a ton of improvements coming to DaVinci Resolve 20, and a whole host of broadcast workflow tools. Let's dive in!
The new Blackmagic PYXIS 12K cinema camera ports over the 12K URSA Cine sensor, alongside an upgraded 10G ethernet port and faster USB-C port, yet maintains the super compact box-style PYXIS 6K body, with a host of open gate and high frame rate record options. It will be available in July with an L, PL, or EF mount. Two new products can also prep for the PYXIS for broadcast use—a television production-focused Pro Handle with a stereo mic and extended viewfinder, as well as a side Pro Grip with a zoom rocker, record button, and hand strap.

On the camera updates front, tracking-based autofocus and prerecord is being added to some exciting Blackmagic camera bodies via a software update. The autofocus includes face and object recognition, a first for Blackmagic. Prerecord duration will display above the record button and continually fill a cache that will then be added to the start of a recording file. The Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 is also getting support for the PYXIS monitor. The URSA Cine 17K 65mm is getting a body-only offering that still includes the 8TB media module.
DaVinci Resolve 20 has over a hundred new features, many of which use AI assistance to simplify repetitive non-creative tasks. Intelliscript will generate a whole timeline based off a script, selecting best takes, or can even generate a script using transcription. Over sixty languages are now supported by the transcription tools. Fusion effects can animate subtitles, an AI Music Editor can intelligently trim or expand tracks, and the software can even create a professional level sound mix.
Resolve's AI Voice Convert can change pitch and emotions with four pre-built voice models or custom models you create. Resolve's text and graphics customization options are also getting major upgrades, and the Media Pool will have deeper integration with Blackmagic Cloud. Fusion's 3D imaging features are being more fleshed out to help with complex graphics and VR work. Expect better Smart Frames, GPU acceleration, and noise reduction, while Fairlight has its own suite of new AI-assisted audio processing tools. There are a host of new tools for creating immersive video for Apple Vision Pro too.
The new broadcast tools include the Blackmagic Design Backup 8, which uses more affordable hard disks and syncs with the cloud. The Blackmagic Videohub Mini 4x2 12G is only 1/3 RU with four inputs and two outputs for super simple routing. They're also releasing a Videohub Mini 6x2 12G with a dedicated reference input and front emergency output, and a Videohub Mini 8x4 12G with the same features and a reference output.

New standards converters are also in the works, including a 2110 IP UpDownCross 12G Converter with HDMI and SDI, as well as new SDI and HDMI adapters, and a DeckLink IP 100G. The ATEM Constellation line of switchers is also growing, with a 4 M/E Constellation 4K Plus that has twice the number of inputs and outputs as the existing 4 M/E Constellation—that means 80 inputs with individual standards converters and 48 independent outputs with timecode embeds.

The new HyperDeck Shuttle 4K Pro has a built-in 7" screen and can record UHD and proxy files at the same time. It can be used a media player, high-quality recorder, teleprompter assist, keyer assist, and more, with rich touchscreen functionality and an array of inputs and outputs. It can be purchased with or without 2TB of internal storage. The ATEM Micro Camera Panel is a professional, compact controller with buttons and knobs for all your important settings and Bluetooth functionality.

The ATEM Mini Extreme ISO G2 is an exciting update to one of their most popular products, with a wider design, higher-quality buttons, a 10G Ethernet port, CFexpress support, a manual transition fader, two media players, and assignable input buttons, among other software-based improvements like additional keyers and replay features. Blackmagic Web Presents are now called Streaming Encoders, still available in HD or 4K. The new Steaming Decoder 4K has HDMI and SDI outputs as well as tally and camera control features.

Blackmagic's web-based Stream Router cloud software is getting upgraded with support for smartphone cameras and more. The DaVinci Resolve Monitor app is also coming soon, and the Blackmagic Cloud software suite is getting additional features like fuller live production support, and Cloud Storage is now more flexible with folders and sharing. The new ATEM Cloud is like a software based 1 M/E Constellation with three streaming outputs. It can work in tandem with hardware switchers and ATEM Software Control.
