The game you have been pursuing over the last three ridgelines isn’t going to sit still for long, and you don’t have time to switch between your binoculars and your rangefinder. You have one chance at the trophy you have worked so hard for.

There are few things as beautiful as the natural world. Throughout the animal kingdom, there are amazing colors and patterns to be seen. Unfortunately, these wild creatures are often very wary of people, making it hard to get a good look. Because of this, binoculars are essential equipment when it comes to viewing animals outside of a zoological setting. Fortunately, Hawke

For some, there is nothing better than cooking directly over an open fire. Fire can be mesmerizing—I challenge you to look away from the campfire when there’s one near. You can’t, and no one else in your party will be able to either. The way the flames dance seems to transfix all those whose gaze happens to fall upon it. There is certainly is something about the crackling roar wood gives off as it succumbs to the flames surrounding it, transforming into embers. And wood smoke definitely has a certain appeal to it, as well; the way it cloaks

Beginning December 21, 2015, the FAA will require all drones ("SUA" in FAA terminology) weighing between 0.55 and 55 pounds to be registered before operating outdoors. Failure to register can result in stiff penalties, which can include fines of up to $27,000 or, where criminal liability has been found, a fine of up to $250,000 and up to three years in jail. What this new requirement means for the hobbyist or consumer is that all but the smallest nano-scale quadcopters will need to be registered to be flown outdoors. A

It is 2015 and, still, a staggering 90-95% of the Earth’s oceans remain unexplored. This seems unbelievable, given the incredible advancements we’ve seen in technology over the years, and the fact that we’ve even explored the Moon and planets in some detail. Indeed, it has been said that we know more about the surface of the Moon or Mars than about the ocean floor. How is it that the vast majority of the ocean, which makes up 70% of our own planet, is as yet undiscovered? It speaks to the sheer vastness and depth of the underwater realm. It

Hollywood seems delighted to scare us with the doom and gloom of far-fetched disaster films. And we seem to enjoy them, if box office numbers are any indication. Films like Armageddon, which pitted Earth against a possible asteroid strike, Dante’s Peak, which dealt with a fictional volcano eruption, Twister, which detailed the misadventures of some made-up storm chasers in Tornado Alley, and San Andreas, which provided an imaginary account of a massive earthquake in California, have terrified and delighted millions of viewers all over the

We’ve all seen video from surveillance cameras, whether on news programs, TV and/or movies, and via the Internet. Surveillance can and should be an important part of a physical protection system, and helps provide peace of mind to homeowners, parents, and employers, by allowing you to keep an eye on things when you cannot be physically present. However, there is an enormous range of products available, with great variations in price, complexity, and
