Audio-Technica may be known to the masses as a stalwart manufacturer of quality headphones, but recording engineers and musicians also know the company to be responsible for world-class microphones, heard on everything from podcasts to countless records. Taking Musikmesse as an opportunity to show off new gear, Audio-Technica has announced its new flagship condenser microphone, the AT5047.
Based on the AT5040 condenser microphone, the AT5047’s capsule features four rectangular diaphragms, which gives you a wider surface area for pickup, while the internal shockmount system decouples the capsule itself from the mic body for reduced noise. Audio-Technica employs a transformer-coupled output for classic, smooth vintage character. As you might expect from a new flagship entry, Audio-Technica promises that the AT5047 will be hand-assembled and inspected to assure quality.
