AEA Announces NUVO N13 Mid-Field Active Ribbon Mic

AEA Ribbon Mics announced its new NUVO N13 Active Ribbon Microphone, a mid-field mic designed to fill the gap between the N22 near-field mic and the N8 far-field mic.

Discreet in size and shape, the bi-directional NUVO N13 uses a shorter, lighter, narrower, and thinner ribbon for an enhanced transient response. The mic excels at capturing sparking highs while smoothing lows, perfect for recording drum overheads, strings, horns, acoustic guitars, and pianos.

The N13 is optimized for mid-field performance (1 to 3' from the sound source), delivering a pleasing balance between the amount of direct sound from the source and the amount of room tone. The N13 naturally rolls off some low frequencies to help add more clarity to your sound.

With phantom-powered JFET electronics and a custom German transformer (identical to the other NUVO models), the N13 performs equally well with a wide range of preamps—from vintage high-end models to USB audio interfaces common in home-studio setups. As with all AEA mics, the N13 is 100% handcrafted in Pasadena, CA.
