With the release of the Move 2, Sonos has made significant improvements in its portable home wireless speaker. The major upgrades of this second-generation Move speaker include stereo sound vs. mono, and drastically increased battery life of up to 24 hours vs. 10 hours. The essentials of the Move stay the same with this update. It continues to offer Trueplay audio tuning, a portable design with integrated handle, and robust construction with resistance to water, dust, and impacts.
Both the quality of audio and the length of operation are the two primary components that are enhanced in the Move 2. Now offering stereo sound, the Move 2 incorporates dual angled tweeters for crisp vocals and a wider soundstage, which joins the precision-tuned mid-woofer for a dynamic and overall balanced sound signature. Battery life now lasts a full day, and the Move 2 offers a more compact power adapter and detachable cord for more convenient storage and placement.
Other new enhancements involve control and playback through the Move 2. The new edition retains the ability to manage audio via voice using Alexa and the Sonos app on a phone, but now provides built-in intuitive touch controls. It can also access the Internet via Ethernet or play wired devices, such as a turntable, when adding the optional Sonos Line-In Adapter and Sonos Combo Adapter.
While many things have changed for the better, some of the best parts of the Move have stayed the same. The Move 2 continues to offer Trueplay tuning, which uses its integrated far-field mic array to analyze what’s being played and where, adjusting audio performance for the best listening experience possible. It also continues to provide access to home, mobile, and Internet streaming using a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection.
From room to room, indoors or in the backyard, the Move 2 continues to elevate music entertainment throughout the home. It works well alone, paired with a second Move 2, or as part of a complete Sonos-based whole-home audio solution.
