Leica has entered the home entertainment category with its first line of Laser TVs: the Leica Cine 1. Cine 1 consists of a 100" and 120" model of the UST (ultra-short throw) laser home theater projector, plus the accompanying 100" Daylight and 120" Cinematic screens. Leica leveraged its renowned optics knowledge to create the Summicron lens, which is made up of four aspherical lenses, resulting in a fixed system to provide the best possible picture for these specific screen sizes. The lens joins a triple RGB laser to produce brilliant images in UHD 4K resolution using XPR technology, an image that’s further enhanced with rich contrast and vivid color saturation, thanks to HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support.
This light source is capable of delivering 3000 ANSI lumens, bright enough for the Cine 1 to operate in darkness or daylight while achieving more than 100% of the BT.2020 color space for accurate life-like color reproduction in movies and TV programs. This lighting capability is enhanced by Leica Image Optimization (LIO), which is a set of algorithms designed to improve the Cine 1’s image quality.
To ensure that viewers have the best experience possible, each Cine 1 is designed to be paired with one of the newly released projector screens. The Cine 1 100" pairs well with the 100" Daylight screen, an ALR screen designed to reject ambient light, fitting well in a typical living room. By contrast, Leica’s Cine 1 120" pairs with the 120" Cinematic screen. As the name implies, it’s a non-ALR screen more suited for dedicated home theaters or rooms with significant light control.
More than a simple projector, Lecia is positioning the Cine 1 as a true high-end home theater solution, since each laser TV comes equipped with Google TV and VIDAA 6.0 for access to a library of streaming content over a fast dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) or wired Ethernet connection. Additional content options include mobile device screen mirroring and playback from devices and drives connected to the three HDMI and two USB ports.
In addition to a brilliant picture, the Cine 1 offers immersive 3D sound through support for Dolby Atmos and a built-in 50W speaker system. Speakers are housed behind the perforated grille of the aluminum chassis, which also features a protective automatic dust cover. The entire unit is made to fit seamlessly into almost any space, because it only requires inches between itself and a wall or recommended projection screen.
With the introduction of this new line of laser TVs, Lecia makes a commitment to use its optical expertise to provide an authentic cinema experience for the home. Whether choosing a Cine 1 100" with a 100" Daylight screen or a Cine 1 120" with a 120" Cinematic screen, both pairings deliver a combination of power, performance, and style for a truly hi-end, all-in-one home entertainment solution.
