In celebration of the OLED TV’s 10th anniversary, LG reminisced about previous milestones—such as the rollable SIGNATURE OLED R and bendable OLED Flex—and set a new one with the introduction of the wireless M3. LG also expanded nearly every aspect of the existing Z3, G3, and C3 OLED evo lines for the new year, improving internal processing, enhancing the webOS platform, and other updates. If LG’s 2023 offerings are any indication, the future looks as bright as its OLED self-lit pixels.
LG SIGNATURE OLED M3
The star of the show was the huge 97" LG SIGNATURE OLED M3, the first model in the M series to feature real-time wireless audio and video transmission up to 4K at 120 Hz refresh rates. Content comes from the Zero Connect box, which can be placed almost anywhere, allowing for increased freedom in designing a clean home entertainment space. With properly positioned antennas and internal algorithms to select the best transmission path, the M3 delivers a futuristic TV option today.
LG OLED in 2023
Expanding the capabilities of the Z3, G3, and C3 OLED evo series displays, LG added improved processing with the Alpha a9 Gen6 chip, which works with AI-assisted Deep Learning to improve picture quality. One example is with AI Picture Pro, a feature that improves upscaling and is capable of object detection in scenes for more lifelike HDR.
Additional improvements include up to four HDMI 2.1a ports, 0.1 ms response time, and low input lag for exceptional gaming, as well as virtual 9.1.2 surround sound from built-in speakers to complete the experience. The 2023 sets are also the first televisions to be certified by the HDMI organization for Quick Media Switching VRR (QMS-VRR), which removes the black screen that can appear when switching between content for a fluid transition between sources.
Specific models also received improvements, such as the G3 with Brightness Booster Max technology, using new light control architecture and algorithms to boost brightness by 70% compared to previous models.
Altogether, these achievements show exactly why LG is celebrating 10 years of OLED innovation and achievement. The new year brings a continuation and evolution of this self-lit pixel legacy, offering new televisions that truly immerse you in your favorite entertainment.
