Enhance Collaboration with the Dell Latitude 9440 2-in-1 Laptop

Although the Intel® vPro-compatible Dell Latitude 9440 Multi-Touch 2-in-1 Notebook is primarily designed for business professionals, its sleek design and impressive hardware make it ideal for almost any situation. Its 2-in-1 design, which allows you to transform it from a traditional laptop to a tablet, underscores this laptop’s versatility as you transition from typing documents to video chatting with clients, then sitting back and watching a movie at the end of the day. Additionally, it sports a solidly constructed aluminum chassis and weighs about 3.4 pounds, and its components help to maximize life while delivering high performance, making it the ideal travel companion.

Compact Performance

Inside is a power-efficient 13th generation 1.8 GHz Intel® Core™ i7-1365U 10-Core processor, which drives applications with two Performance cores while the eight Efficiency cores take care of background tasks. Combined with the 32GB of onboard LPDDR5 memory and 512GB M.2 PCIe SSD, this laptop is ready to take on almost any productivity task, along with some light content creation. For instance, I was able to render a simple hour-long Full HD video in about 24 minutes using Adobe Premiere Pro.

Each of the three Thunderbolt™ 4 ports can transfer up to 40 Gb/s of data and power with compatible devices, which meant less time staring at progress bars when working with large project files. You can also boost your multitasking by connecting external monitors to the Thunderbolt™ 4 ports.

Enhanced Productivity

One of the Latitude's most striking features is its bright 14-inch, 2560 x 1600-resolution touchscreen that’s housed within slim bezels that almost disappear while you work. Driven by integrated Intel® Iris Xe™ Graphics, the display delivers sharp visuals with rich color, and the 16:10 aspect ratio provides more vertical viewing space than traditional QHD displays. Its dual hinges offer plenty of tension to securely keep the 2-in-1 in any configuration you choose. The display also supports a separately purchased pen that allows you to make handwritten notes and detailed photo edits in tablet mode.

Below the display is Dell’s “Zero-Lattice”-style backlit keyboard that manages to pack flat, wide keys into a compact form factor for efficient and comfortable typing. The key layout might take some getting used to if you’re accustomed to full-sized keyboards, but the effort is worthwhile. These keys are remarkably quiet, and the bright mini-LED backlighting is designed to help conserve battery power, allowing you to type at conferences and meetings without disrupting your environment.

But perhaps the Latitude 9440’s most impressive feature is the large Haptic Collaboration Touchpad, which delivers customizable feedback with every touch and click. It recognizes multi-touch gestures such as pinching to zoom and two-finger scrolling and panning, so you don’t necessarily need to use the touchscreen if you don’t want to. Additionally, illuminated collaboration icons appear at the top of the touchpad when you enter a video meeting via applications such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams. They streamline your communications by letting you mute your mic, turn your camera on or off, share your screen, and open the chat window with a quick tap.

Face-to-Face Communication

Without a doubt, the Latitude 9440 is made to deliver clear video chatting from home, the office, or remote locations. Its Full HD webcam is complemented by a dual microphone array and a four-speaker sound system that delivers incredible audio. Wi-Fi 6E support allows you to connect to compatible networks for smooth video streaming.

The camera did an excellent job compensating for low-light conditions by bringing out my face during a video call, without looking artificial or overexposed. At the same time, the dual mics did an impressive job of filtering out background noises, including echoes from the speaker system. Although I didn’t make much use of the touchpad’s light-up icons outside of muting my mic, I appreciated how they could make presentations and sharing information easier. Mic mute and other functions can be found along the top of the keyboard in case you can’t use the touchpad controls. The keyboard also includes an electronic SafeShutter key that turns the webcam off when it’s not in use.

However, what impressed me most about the Latitude 9440 is the incredible audio system. Comprising two upward-firing speakers on either side of the keyboard and dual downward facing speakers, enhanced with Waves MaxxAudio Pro spatial audio, this sound system is nothing short of amazing. Everything from listening to music while typing to watching streaming video sounds rich and full. The system works best in laptop mode, but it also delivers surprisingly loud sound when in stand, tent, and tablet configurations.

Made for Travel

In addition to a fingerprint reader built into the power button, the Windows-Hello-compatible infrared webcam quickly logged me in without a password.

Best of all, the 60 Wh battery is designed to provide up to 20 hours of life, depending on use. I performed a variety of light tasks such as typing and watching streaming videos for more than six hours and still had plenty of battery left in the evening, even with the performance settings and screen brightness set to maximum.

Conclusion

Whether you primarily work from home, commute, or frequently travel to different locations, the Dell Latitude 9440 laptop provides the performance and power efficiency to keep you productive throughout the day. It especially worth considering if you frequently meet with clients and colleagues via video chats, at which point the Haptic Collaboration Touchpad comes into use. Then, at the end of the day, this laptop easily transitions from work to play by delivering rich entertainment and booming audio.
