AlphaTheta Announces New XDJ-AZ All-in-One DJ System and More
10/10/2024AlphaTheta is announcing new additions to their lineup of DJ gear. Front and center is the new XDJ-AZ, a powerful four-deck all-in-one DJ system with the layout and features of a standard club setup. Evolving beyond the capabilities of its predecessor, the XDJ-XZ, the new XDJ-AZ inherits the layout and feel of the CDJ-3000 multiplayer and the DJM-A9 mixer.
Wi-Fi is built into this new system, giving you access to brand-new tracks and your latest music library, allowing you to play songs from cloud-based libraries and perform with up-to-date info like Hot Cues anytime, anywhere. Use StreamingDirectPlay to play back tracks from Beatport’s vast catalog with nary a single network cable while getting data like waveforms, BPMs, and grid information (subscription required). Access your rekordbox library directly with CloudDirectPlay. Coupled with XDJ-AZ’s multi-device support, you can play tracks from a wide range of media types to fit any situation.
The system’s large 10.1” touchscreen enable seamless control and constant visual information. Up to 13 tracks can be displayed at once, up from eight on the XDJ-XZ. Further advanced features include Playlist Bank, which lets you register up to four playlists for rapid access, Touch Preview, for previewing tracks in playlists without loading them, and Touch Cue, which allows you to preview upcoming sections for tracks currently playing on the deck.
The four-deck setup of the XDJ-AZ means you have the flexibility to perform however you like, letting you add more sounds to your mix, create live mashups, go back-to-back with another DJ, or get more tracks lined up for a perfect drop. You can seamlessly integrate CDJs into your setup, avoiding the need to switch decks. With Pro DJ Link compatibility, beat and on-air information are synced across players.
The XDJ-AZ offers club-ready sound quality. The system leapfrogs its predecessor with a 32-bit D/A converter from ESS Technology, significantly enhancing audio for clear and dynamic audio that can rock large venues. You also get three-band master EQ for tweaking the output sound to match the acoustics of the space you’re performing in. And with a dedicated Mixer Settings button, you can quickly check and adjust the mixer’s status on the screen.
Finally, the integrated SonicLink transmitter provides ultra-low-latency wireless monitoring with SonicLink-compatible DJ headphones. Press a single button to pair the XDJ-AZ with headphones so you can move around the DJ booth or stage without worrying about tangled or pulled cables. This provides the perfect opportunity to segue into AlphaTheta’s next new release, the HDJ-F10 wireless pro DJ headphones.
The HDJ-F10 headphones offer high-quality, high-volume sound with ultra-low latency, thanks to AlphaTheta’s proprietary SonicLink technology. They utilize newly developed 40mm dynamic drivers which sport a PEEK-PU-PEEK composite film diaphragm made from two different materials to help achieve a higher resolution sound across a wide frequency range. With a bass-reflux duct and air chamber, you get a high level of sound insulation whilst also expanding and enhancing low frequencies. This results in a crisp, punchy kick sound.
These headphones feature integrated noise-canceling technology, making it easier to hear your audio in the loud DJ booth or on stage. Transparency mode ensures you can always let in some sound, preventing you from being completely disconnected from your environment. When using the HDJ-F10 headphones off stage, you can enjoy hands-free phone calls via voice assistants (Siri or Google Assistant) and up to 30 hours of battery life (9 hours when using SonicLink). You can also use a wired connection to save battery life and eliminate latency completely.
Speaking of latency, the SonicLink technology available on the HDJ-F10 headphones requires an external transmitter, which can be purchased separately or with the F10 headphones. The SonicLink transmitter offers an astonishing nine milliseconds of latency, up to 20 times faster than traditional Bluetooth connections. The transmitter features an internal battery when not powered via USB-C, and you can get up to nine hours of playback with a four-hour charge.
Lastly, we would be remiss to not mention the DDJ-GRV6, a new four-channel DJ controller designed for rekordbox and Serato DJ Pro software. With this bus-powered controller, you get access to both software applications without the need for a subscription. With a layout heavily borrowed from the flagship DJM and CDJ lines of equipment, the DDJ-GRV6 is a great way to take full control of your remixes.
With Groove Circuit technology, you can replace the drum parts of a track, even while it’s playing, with different drum loops, allowing you to perform unique remixes effortlessly. The DDJ-GRV6 features eight multi-color and velocity-sensitive performance pads on each deck with four modes of operation, including hot cue, roll, slicer, and sampler. Load samples and tracks into Serato DJ Pro or rekordbox and play them with the onboard pads.
The new Smart Rotary Selector allows for up/down and left/right tilting, as well as conventional rotation and push operations. Intuitively navigate through the media browser, tree view, track list, playlists, and collections. By pressing the Discover button, you can quickly access the Track Suggestions feature, helping you to rediscover old favorites or encounter new songs (only in rekordbox for macOS/Windows).
The DDJ-GRV6 excels at working with stems. The new Stems FX feature allows you to express yourself musically while applying effects like Roll, Trans, Echo Out, and Delay to the separate stems of a track (drums, bass, vocal, or melody). The controller supports Stems mode and Stem Iso via rekordbox and Serato DJ Pro.
