Profoto Releasing L600 Mono-LED Lights and LP200C RGB Panel

Profoto’s expansion into video-focused lighting continues with three exciting new offerings. The L600D is a daylight balanced 600W mono-LED light with a ballast-free design and a liquid cooling system. It is also available in an RGB-capable variation, the L600C. The LP2000C is a 2000W RGB LED panel with an IP65 rating that’s fast to set up and powerful enough for demanding on-set work.

The Profoto L600D and L600C are smaller, lighter, and more affordable than the brand’s L1600D. As with that fixture, users can expect the quiet patent-pending HydroCTech cooling system and the proprietary Profoto mount, which is compatible with over 50 of the brand’s modifiers (though gone is the Bowens mount). The all-in-one design of the L600 eliminates the need for an external ballast and makes installation, adjustments, and tear down significantly simpler. The L600D is 13 lb and the L600C is 13.45 lb with the yoke, impressive for lights with this kind of output.

As with all Profoto lights, TLCI and SSI ratings are high, so expect accurate tones and color reproduction. Control options include CRMX, 5-pin DMX, Bluetooth, Profoto Air, and the Profoto Control smartphone app. Though a bit more expensive, the L600C opens you up to over 16 million color possibilities with five color modes: CCT, HSI, Gels, Effects, and Manual.

While those two lights are built for dry, indoor use, the LP2000C panel is perfect for in-the-field work, with IP65-weather proofing and a weight of only 59 lb with the yoke. For a panel packing 2000W of output, that’s not bad at all, and means the light can be operated by a single person. Crews will also appreciate the panel’s new SpeedClamp system for faster accessory mounting and rapid locks for DoP Choice Snapbags. CCT ranges from 2000 to 15,000K, and there is an adjustable Green/Magenta shift.

Onboard controls are supplemented with TimoTwo CRMX, 5-pin DMX, Profoto Air, and the Profoto Control app. Profoto is calling the LP2000C “the world’s most powerful LED panel,” and it definitely marks a new era for the amount of output you can get from a single soft fixture, with a full RGBWW engine for additional creative possibilities. Filmmakers should keep an eye on all three of these lights when they launch later this year.
