Five New NEC Projectors for Educational Use

0Share

NEC has two new series of projectors about to be released that are designed for use in K-12 classrooms. The NP-ME series has wider throw ratio ranges for added versatility over the NP-MC series, so they can be used either closer or farther from the screen, and be more easily moved from one classroom to another that might have different projection requirements. With five total models to choose from, one of these is likely to be a good fit for your classroom.

The NP-ME series is made up of the NP-ME403U, which has 1920 x 1200 native resolution, 4000-lumen brightness output, 1.6x zoom, and 1.2 to 2:1 throw ratio; the NP-ME423W, which has 1280 x 800 native resolution, 4200-lumen brightness output, 1.7x zoom, and 1.2 to 2.1:1 throw ratio; and the NP-ME453X, with 1024 x 768 native resolution, 4500-lumen brightness output, 1.7x zoom, and 1.3 to 2.2:1 throw ratio. To compare, the NP-MC series has the NP-MC423W, with 1280 x 800 native resolution, 4200-lumen brightness output, 1.2x zoom, and 1.4 to 1.6:1 throw ratio; and the NP-MC453X, which has 1024 x 768 native resolution, 4500-lumen brightness output, 1.2x zoom, and 1.5 to 1.8:1 throw ratio.

That’s a rather number-heavy way of saying these projectors are made to meet a variety of different needs. For instance, the brighter the room is, the higher brightness output you’d want; art classes and any other image-centered classes would benefit from higher resolution; and the zoom and throw ratio tell you how far you can place the projector from your screen.

Despite all these key differences, the NP-MC and NP-ME series have quite a few similarities. Both have two HDMI inputs, a composite video input, and a VGA input and output, supporting various types of inputs. They also have Ethernet LAN connectivity, and can be connected wirelessly via an optional adapter for more convenient connectivity.

Wall color correction tweaks the color output of the projectors so that images appear in proper color when projecting onto a non-white surface. These projectors are compatible with MultiPresenter software, which lets you project real-time images from your device’s built-in camera, or websites with a compatible file sharing app. Crestron RoomView compatibility provides simple network management, enabling a network manager to power multiple projectors on the network on or off. Additionally, enhanced security settings help to deter unauthorized use, image adjustments, and theft of the projectors.
