CES 2019: A Demo of Newest SVS Speakers

0Share

So much at CES focuses on what you see and hear. Some of the very best products can also evoke an emotional response. When listening to great speakers, not only should you expect them to sound good, but they should also be able to immerse you in the experience; and if you're really lucky, provide a few goose bumps along the way. At the end of your listening session, you should be able to recall how the experience made you feel just as clearly as the music or movie soundtrack itself.

Sound dramatic? If you experienced SVS's demos at CES this year, you'll know exactly what I mean. First up is its Prime Wireless speaker system. Smart speakers are everywhere these days, but do they all sound good? While listening to the 200W powered Prime Wireless speaker system, it was too obvious to me and all who were listening, that SVS didn't sacrifice sonic performance for easy connectivity. Not only does this speaker system support Amazon Alexa and a wide variety of music streaming sources but, via convenient App-based control, you can easily add additional speakers to your system, covering multiple zones. If you just want connect via analog, optical, or Bluetooth, this speaker has you covered there, too.

My next stop was to demo SVS's Prime 5.1.2 speaker system. Consisting of its new Prime Pinnacle floor standing towers (due out later this year), a center speaker, two rears, and two wall-mountable height speakers, this system covered all the bases to deliver a high-end audiophile experience for multi-channel music and movies. Rounding out the low-end frequencies was the company's new 13" SB-3000 sealed sub, capable of reaching as low as 18 Hz. SVS also offers a larger ported model, the PB-3000, which features a foundation-shaking 16 Hz low frequency extension.

How did it all sound? Incredible! As expected. Good thing SVS rented a suite to showcase its newest speakers, because it's easy for good sound to get lost on the convention floors. Read more of our CES 2019 coverage here.
