NAMM 2019: New Guitars and Digital Console Pianos from Yamaha

0Share

It's NAMM season again— NAMM 2019, this time—and Yamaha is bringing some exciting new instruments to Anaheim's premier musical mercantile party. Let's start with the guitars, specifically the CG-TA and the CSF-TA. The first is a TransAcoustic series acoustic/electric guitar with nylon strings. It offers classic nylon tone and internally amplified effects for, say, a little extra reverb or chorus without necessitating an amplifier. The instrument provides an ovangkol and solid Engelmann spruce body with a nato neck and rosewood fingerboard. If you want the same sort of feature set in a steel string model, check out the CSF-TA, a parlor guitar fashioned out of fine mahogany and solid Sitka spruce. You get all the TransAcoustic controls for reverb and chorus emanating from the instrument's natural resonance, as well as a nato neck with a 21-fret rosewood fingerboard.

Yamaha is also a fine purveyor of digital console pianos and, to that end, we'd like to invite you to take a look-see at the Arius YDP-S54, available in black walnut and white walnut finishes. This is an 88-key digital console piano, with graded hammer GH3 keys and an internal sound that mimics the sound and feel of acoustic grand pianos. Whether you're just learning or a professional looking for low-profile digital piano to use in your apartment, the YDP-S54 will do the trick. It'll also make a great addition to a small rehearsal space. The instrument offers 192-note polyphony, USB connectivity for computer and mobile devices, app-based recording, song analysis, and more.

With its flat-top fold-up design, it'll turn into something of a small work-desk when not in use. This makes it a space-saver for small apartments and such. Now, if you'd rather skimp on the space-saving design and get yourself something that acts as the centerpiece to a room—something that warmly invites your friends and loved ones to sit down and play—then check out the YDP-164, which offers many of the same features. The YDP-164 includes a bench, and is available in black walnut and rosewood finishes.

Also, consider the Arius YPD-144, another 88-key digital piano that gives you the feel of real, weighted keys. Use this digital instrument to give you the feel, and sound, of a concert piano right at home, thanks to the sampled sound of a classic Yamaha concert grand, the CFX. Available in black walnut and rosewood finishes, the Arius YPD-144 is great for players who'd like to transfer seamlessly between digital and acoustic pianos.
